Since I'm out of school and summer no longer means freedom from classes, summer is now mostly symbolic of outdoor barbecues and white dresses. We haven't hit the barbecue yet (or summer, for that matter) but I've got the white dress ready - seriously the loveliest dress in my closet from Josie of Frances Baker. When she approached me about a handmade dress swap earlier in the year, I was excited and expected it to be lovely.. but when the dress arrived in a custom size for me, with its tiered sleeves and broderie lace detailing, I was through the roof. I loved it so much I put it on right away and Neil and I spent the evening out.

I'm in Wisconsin today with my family - we're heading to New Glarus this morning to drink beer and eat Swiss food at the Glarner Stube, then on to Galena, Illnois for time with my grandparents. After a whirlwind afternoon of flying and layovers, it's good to relax with my mom's side of the family in places that have so many memories.
