The seasons are changing in Tennessee - early, as usual. Most of our flowers are gone and in their place comes the heat.. it's well into the 90s today, but at least it's beautiful out. And the cicadas have come! Our yard is littered with little cicada skins attached to leaves and trees. Bloom is going to have a field day.
Neil and I took these photos over the weekend, after we all went to Loretta Lynn's ranch to celebrate Mother's Day. My parent's home is surrounded by farmland and fields, which always makes me miss the country when we visit. I miss that sense of freedom and privacy that isn't really present in the city, but I know the moment we move away from the city, we'll be dreaming about moving back.
The dress I'm wearing is a lightweight cotton gown from the 1970s or 80s, probably a little girl's nightgown with lace trim at the skirt and a pleated bodice. It's exactly the kind of shape I'm obsessed with this summer.. super simple. Rhi just posted some photos of a collection with the same idea, airy summer dresses in clean shapes and plain fabrics. So lovely.
And speaking of simple.. Neil's making grilled chicken and shaved asparagus with lemon and white wine for supper. Happy Tuesday!
