Meet Colleen of Say Ooh, a sweet friend of mine who happens to have a mind filled with inspirational ideas and her hands in a million pretty projects. This past weekend, she welcomed me into her home to share a late breakfast and take some photos!

Colleen's apartment is part of an East Nashville neighborhood home built in the early 1900s. The house itself is a beauty - old ornate doorknobs, dark wood trim, high ceilings, and a fireplace in every bedroom. When Colleen moved in, the walls matched the dark wood trim. She quickly painted everything in creamy pastels to lighten her space, hanging ruffled curtains from open doorways to separate the rooms.

Colleen uses old books as shelves, bracketing them to the wall in pretty yet practical places.. and her feminine style of decorating is mixed with a distinctly masculine feel. A deer mount sits above the fireplace, and a portrait of George Washington in an oval frame tops an old steamer trunk - complete with a makeshift lace bow at his collar, pinned there by Colleen.

The weathered white kitchen table and chairs were flea market finds, as were several of the old suitcases lining the walls. The embroidered tea towels in the kitchen and antique doilies hanging from the ceiling once belonged to Colleen's grandmother (as if they could get any cooler!).

When in Nashville, be sure to visit Local Honey to pick up some of Colleen's lovely handmade pieces, and visit Say Ooh's online shop for pretty things!
